One of my favourite signs in this country is the signs you see on doors proclaiming, ‘This door is alarmed‘. While a perfectly valid language in both British and American English, the default connotation in the latter is that something has been startled or upset, rather than yanno, having an alarm. I commented that this onion looked alarm, and Z kindly took a photo of it for me. I’m not gonna lie, I think this is my Aesthetic 4 Lyfe, ha ha.
The main thing I can say about today is that I am in masses of pain. I woke up in pain, then we went around Blackgang Chine for a few hours, and yeah… that didn’t make things any better. I’m glad we went, and I’m glad our ticket will enable us to go again, but like… it’s a very uppy-downy place, and I was debating whether or not to ask for a wheelchair when we got there. There are several points in the park that are prefaced with ‘lulz, too steep for chairs’, so like. Damned if I did, damned if I didn’t. I’ve made it clear to Z that we will probably need to take it even more slowly on our second pass — but that I’m still amenable to going. It’s kitch and we all had lots of fun.
Tomorrow, we’re going to do my thing. Which is, as one might guess, to visit the only dedicated wool shop on the island. That also comes with visiting other parts of the old town, so hopefully that’ll be nice.
For now, gonna curl up with my knitting and hope some more of the pain subsides.
